Grand Theft America: The Genocidal Birth of Thanksgiving

Grand Theft America: The Genocidal Birth of Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is a time for turkey, stuffing, and pumpkin pie, but 300 years ago you could have added genocide to that menu. The Pilgrims set sail in hopes of finding freedom from England, but found Native Americans instead. Rather than try and learn from the Native Americans and vice versa, the Pilgrims took advantage of a once na've culture's misfortunes that had been taken advantage of long before.… Post the First Comment

Businessman Killed the Radio Star

Businessman Killed the Radio Star
If you don't listen to the radio much these days, you're not the only one. Radio play lists are smaller than ever, and the variety that was once readily available with the turn of the dial has become a thing of the '90s. This change in the standard is a relatively recent one, and it's not by accident.… Post the First Comment

Election 2008

A Modern Day Tortoise and the Hare
Election 2008

Bad Bus Behavior

Bad Bus Behavior
Wright College is filled with obnoxiously loud cell phone users, arguing couples, and selfish seat stealers; that would be fine if they didn't all have to follow you home on the bus. Unfortunately bus etiquette isn't taught in college. This isn't just a problem isolated in one neighborhood; it's a growing epidemic.… Post the First Comment

Blame the President or the Precedent?
As recently as September 2007, the Senate passed the Matthew Shepard Bill to protect against gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, gender, and persons with disabilities under the hate crime law. However our president, George W. Bush has a history of opposing hate crime legislation, and is almost guaranteed to veto one of the most important hate crime bills of our time.… 1 Comment

A Wright Student's Correspondence from the Orient

Dear Wright Times Readers, I've been in China for more than one month now. The thing that really strikes me about this place is the efficiency with which this country manages 1.5 billion people. When I first arrived, I asked a Chinese friend how to apologize for bumping into someone on the crowded streets of Beijing; with hundreds of people on nearly every street corner it happens quite a lot! He told me that "duibuqi" is the Chinese word for excuse me but that Chinese people find such apologies unnecessary.… Post the First Comment
