Writer' Strike Hits Everyone Where it Hurts Most
Since November 5, 2007, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) has been on strike, refusing to go back to work. This paralyzed dozens of television shows that quickly ran out of episodes to air, and one major awards show, The Golden Globes, was reduced from a star-studded telecast to an awkward and bizarre press conference. NBC, which saw last year's ceremony air to more than 20 million viewers, aired the conference to a third of that number this year, according to Nielsen Media Research (NMR).
