The cafeteria, previously
managed by Chartwells
Dining Services, is under
new management. Compass
now manages cafeteria
services for all the City Colleges
of Chicago for the next
five years. The only change
for students is the coffee;
Starbucks is being served in
the cafeteria.
Carmen Soler, manager
of the cafeteria working for
Compass, says new management
will not
affect the students
in any way because
the operating
hours, food,
and staff remain
the same. Students
are unaware
of Starbucks being
introduced in the
cafeteria. Wright
College student
David Anthony
said, "I [had] no
idea about the
new change in the
cafeteria but I love
Starbucks coffee."
Some students
complain about
the operating
hours of the cafeteria
and its expenses. "By the
time I'm done with my morning
classes, the cafeteria is closed so
I have to drive for my lunch and
come back for an afternoon class
which is really inconvenient,"
Wright student Laura Bennet
said.
Priyanka Philip, who takes
classes at Wright and North Park
University said, "I feel that the
quality of food is better at North
Park compared to Wright and
also affordable and cheap for the
students. I rarely used the cafeteria
even though I was here at
Wright for three and a half years."
However, some students are satisfied
with the variety of food offered.
Another Wright Student,
Claudia Orduno said she didn't
mind spending that extra penny
to save time because of the variety
offered. The cafeteria offers
a variety of food from fruits and
cereals, to sandwiches and burgers,
with health charts included
beside the fruits rack.
The cafeteria is open from 7:30
a.m., to 2 p.m., Monday through
Thursday. The menu is now available
online at wright.ccc.edu.
