On April 18, Ceasar Miranda and Sheila Woods were elected SGA president and vice-president of Wright College. SGA funds student clubs, and club advertisements, and promote student involvement in the clubs. Miranda admits it's been hard start, "I'm not going to lie; it will be kind of hard. It will kind of be like starting fresh; we try into reach more people, try to reach more freshmen, getting them involved early in their career." Miranda said.

"I have met with student government and believe that they are off to a fine start." Wright College President Dr. Charles Guengerich said. "I expect them to continue to support other student organizations in events such as the American English Concert, Wilburpalooza, etc." Guengerich also said that he hopes student government will continue advocating student participation in more college events.

Wright students got a big welcome in September with SGA-sponsored events such as Wilburpalooza, SGA organized and a Halloween Party. With holidays around the corner, SGA will present a Thanksgiving dinner in the Events building that helps the community: Students must bring canned goods in exchange for Thanksgiving dinner. All the canned goods will be donated to families in need. "The students will bring canned goods, so it's kind of like we feed you feed someone else." Woods said.

Miranda is also busy getting prepared to meet with Chancellor Watson and other City College of Chicago (C.C.C.) SGA presidents. One topic of discussion for the meeting is tuition increase. Citywide tuition increases will start in Fall 2009. Miranda said '"Compared to others, we are still cheap. Even though it is going to be higher, we're still not as high as universities and we get the same education here at Wright." Tuition increase is getting negative reactions but Wright continues to offer the same classes, clubs, and needs to except the tuition increase.
