Clarification Concerning April 2009 Editorial
Issue date: 5/1/09 Section: Editorial & Opinion
The Wright Times Editorial Board regrets any hurt feelings Family College Director Diane Prosser felt in relation to our April 2009 Editorial, entitled, Family College Director Deserves a Time Out. We never intentionally meant to hurt her, but rather wanted to point out the need for better promotion when it comes to the Family College Program.
The Wright Times in no way criticized her value as a human being or her skills as a teacher and never intended to make judgements about her educational prowess. Her proficiency as an educator never came into question, but over growing concerns that Wright College wasn't addressing the daycare needs of its students, the editorial took flight. Although the writing seemed strong in some places it only reflected our opinion about her refusal to make students aware of the Family College Program she directs.
As student journalists we readily admit that we make mistakes, but also acknowledge the First Amendment, which in part, protects all of our rights to free speech.
